I am SO EXCITED because in two days I will be getting on a 7 am flight to Broome, Western Australia! That means getting up at 415 AM!  I went shopping today to get supplies for the trip- mostly to hand-me-down stores because we need shorts, t-shirts and shoes that will be thrown away. We also need a special sunscreen and bug spray (It will be 100 degrees the WHOLE time), and a hat to be worn at all times. We haven't been told anything about the trip other than we are not allowed to bring cell phones or watches. We will be cooking our own food, sleeping in tents and learning from an aboriginal tribe. Rumor has it that we eat TURTLE and ride camels on the beach! Hopefully my camera lasts the whole week because I will be taking SO many pictures! I will gone Sept 24th- Sept 30. The following day we leave for our Roadtrip..

Our first plan was to roadtrip along the southern coast of Western Australia but then switched our plans and are now going north.. we wanted it to be warm! We rented three vans (ALL manuals YIKES) that the boys will be driving.. each has room for 4 people, a bed, and camping equipment... we are packing food and one backpack each.. And thats all I really know right now!

FILM= We had our big TV package due in film class this week. We went to a tattoo parlor in Fremantle and interviewed Mark, an australian tattoo artist. We have different shots around the parlor, Mark sketching and then actually tattooing someone. We each had different roles making the film- Martha edited the film, Louise wrote the script, Elise filmed and I was the interviewer. It was very fun and our professor seemed to like it!

For community dinner last week all of the students from Africa prepared a traditional meal.  It was the BEST community dinner yet- a dish of a fried egg, rice and vegetables in an amazing sauce... :)

Well, my theology oral exam is OVER and I am so glad... He asked you ONE question and you had to sit for 5 minutes and just talk.. mine was.. describe Revelation in Vatican II. I thought I did pretty well but I can't even imagine my answer compared to what all of the priests in my class had to say!!!

There has been a full out prank war between the boys and girls at the p&o hotel this semester. It all started off with Jake putting my BED on the ROOF. I came into my room one day and my bed was just gone. I asked everyone where it was and no one would tell me for about an hour... I am walking along the balcony and spot my bed on the roof..... they all just thought it was SO FUNNY and we took a couple pictures..Well then I decided since Jake and Bob leave their room open to mess around with their computer screensavers and facebook accounts. They were not too happy. Next, Jake and Ryan took every single book from the P&O library and filled the door frame of Elissa and Emily's room. When they opened their door in the morning they could only see a wall of books and they all tumbled down.. which could have knocked them out! Next, the girls took every clothing item that Peter owns so that in the morning he would have to come to class in his pajamas.. and he came to class and we all were sitting there with his clothes on!! That one was the best yet... so now the girls are waiting to see what will happen..

Last wednesday at the Orient Bar downstairs, they hosted an ABC party (anything but clothes) you have to make an outfit out of well.. anything but normal clothes! I will post a couple pictures of what people made... martha and I came to take pictures because we didn't have time during the day to make outfits because of our film editing

Tomorrow night I am going to a concert at a place like the Target Center in Downtown Perth to see The Script!! One of my favorite bands right now... I am going with Micah, Elissa and Katie after our Senior Seminar

Well, I wont be writing for about two weeks after my two big trips !!!

I feel like I have not written in a very long time!

Here is a little recap of my classes and what is going on in them-

FILM- After our first project was turned in, we got into groups of four (me, martha, and two new australian friends) and were assigned a television package to shoot and edit due in two weeks.. I am still patiently waiting for my grade on my last montage project...
For this assignment we decided to interview Fremantle's tattoo artist and get cool shots of his parlor and do a montage of some of his artwork. We are planning on interviewing him on Monday. Louise and Elise are the two Australian girls who are doing the project with us and are very nice! I looove their accents and I wish I had one... The professor of this class is still completely lost and we spent the last class doing an activity for 3 hours when it took us 10 minutes..

JOURNALISM- still one of my favorite classes! Each week we have a ten point quiz on current events and news happening in the world but mostly in Western Australia.. he gives me a little slack since I am from the states but not much.. for example a question will be..
So, who won the cricket game last night? And looks at everyone like "oh I let you off the hook with this one, everyone knows it" and all of the Australians laugh and quickly write down the answer. I just sit there dumbfounded and try to look at the paper next to me because really how would I know that... ! I try to *hint hint* to him that I am the editor in chief of my school newspaper, have been a writer for almost 3 years and want to go into broadcast journalism so he knows that I actually do like this class, I just don't know very much about Australia's current affairs yet!
We are learning about the laws of journalism and he said he is teaching a special session for the two americans in the class because our laws are very different. We have an article due in two weeks, which I did a month ago because I read the due date wrong.. not a bad thing though!

SENIOR SEMINAR- We are on to the novel, The Appeal by John Grisham and are actually almost finished with it. I looove this book and actually am using my dad's copy of it- He has read every Grisham book and now I am excited to read more! The novel has to do with a court case where a company has been knowingly dumping toxic waste into a town's water supply for years, and now people are starting to die from cancer.
Last thursday, instead of having class, we ventured to one of the movie theaters in Fremantle and watched a film called Bilibo. It is an Australian film, so no one has really heard of it in the states, but it was SO GOOD. It is about 5 Australian reporters who went to the country of East Timor in 1975 to film the Indonesian occupation and brutal killings that were taking place. They ended up getting tortured and killed themselves trying to let the world know of what was going on. We then, of course, had to go back to class and write a paper on the movie...

THEOLOGY- I don't even know what to say about this class because I am SO LOST STILL
Our oral exam is about two weeks away, and since we will be gone to Broome during the test time, the CSB/SJU students have to come at a different time. Since I have class at the scheduled time, I was informed I would have to go first and then go to my class. AH!!! This is not good..not good at all...

HISTORY- LOVE this class still. I just got my big research paper back and I got an AB which is good! I am glad that is out of the way.. Now we are on to a new project. We had to get into groups (me, martha, bob, ryan and jake) and have to write a 3000 word paper on the city of Fremantle where we live. We have to visit 10 different important places and write about its history. Along with the paper, we have to creatively present our findings to our class. Since Martha and I are in film, we decided that we are going to make a video and then edit it!

Well, classes are going well (except for theology) and we have about 2 and 1/2 weeks left until the Outback and roadtrip!

On Saturday, it was Katherine's 20th birthday so we took the train into Subiaco and had a FANCY dinner at Cups Italian Restaurant. We had the entire place to ourselves! I ordered the chicken parmesan which was AMAZING. After dinner we went to a couple bars and clubs in the city !

I don't have any new photos to share, but I will soon!!
